openArt is produced and managed by Gauguins International Inc., with the support of all film, art and culture-lovers around the world. A network of over 500 international filmmakers & visual artists make the openArt project possible. More information about us will be online very soon.

openArt is an ongoing project connecting films, creators and audience, all inspired by the new means of visual expression.

Ever since its launch in 1999, openArt has been active in creating world wide opportunities for all the films in its library (+1000 films today).

Begun as an online movie portal, openArt's activities have grown and diversified: organization of awards (SICF-openArt Awards), short film screenings in cinemas, TV broadcasts,or as part of art exhibitions and other cultural events.

We are now attaching special importance to collaborations with Japanese
and international film festivals.
Since 2004, openArt promotes hundreds of films at the Clermont-Ferrand
Short Film Festival, the largest of its kind,
and is the first and only Japanese representation at this festival's short film market.
Since 2002, openArt has participated in more than 20 international film festivals.

We are also introducing overseas films in Japan, through theatre screenings, film festivals, TV programs and DVD releases.

All those activities have resulted in various work opportunities for filmmakers, such as the realization of their next production (in Japan and abroad) or contracts with commercial agencies.

The way the moving image is made and viewed is changing drastically everyday. Now is an exciting time, full of new possibilities.

Our community is spreading, giving birth to new projects worldwide.
